LEA DESANDRE — HUW MONTAGUE RENDALL — THOMAS DUNFORD
About
CLAUDIO MONTEVERDI
HENRY PURCELL
GEORG FRIEDRICH HANDEL
The 2016 Laureate of the Académie and a regular contributor to the Festival as to the greatest venues of the world, which value her silky tone and lively musicianship, this year the mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre is the subject of a specific portrait. It entails the roles of Timna in Samson and of Annio in The Clemency of Titus as well as this recital, following the one with her partner Thomas Dunford at the Hôtel Maynier d’Oppède in 2019. Now they are joined by Huw Montague Rendall, the Pelléas of the Festival, for a concert dedicated to the most beautiful pages by Monteverdi, echoing the production of The Return of Ulysses to his Homeland at the Théâtre du Jeu de Paume, but also to works by Purcell and Händel.
