THE PIANO TAKES CENTRE STAGE: THREE RECITALS NOT TO BE MISSED IN JULY

Pierre-Laurent Aimard is to make a significant return to the Festival d’Aix-en- Provence: in addition to two hearty concerts at the Conservatoire Darius Milhaud, the celebrated pianist will be accompanying the eight artists of the Academie's Instruments and Composition Residency this year. For several weeks, the young male and female pianists and composers will reinforce their mastery of the contemporary repertoire and their own creativity. Come and discover the work of these talented emerging artists at the recital on 5 July, which will feature a mix of original compositions and pieces from the contemporary repertoire, in the presence of Clara Iannotta, Marco Stroppa and Mark Andre.
The following day, Pierre-Laurent Aimard is proposing an intimate concert centered around the French premiere of ...selig ist..., a work by Mark Andre, paired with several pieces by Bach: classicism and contrapuntal exactitude combine with reserve for this recital at the Conservatoire Darius Milhaud (6 July).
To bring this piano series to a close, a concluding experience in the form of a major concert-event invites you back to the Conservatoire on 12 July : to celebrate the centenary of György Kurtág, Pierre-Laurent Aimard has imagined an amusing programme centered around Játékok (Games) for piano by the Hungarian composer. During a concert that takes you on a trip between different pianos and keyboards, you can stroll from one miniature to the next by Schubert, Mozart, Schoenberg and Kurtág.
