plus a day during season 2016-2017
plus from June 19th to 24th, 2017

The Women Opera Makers Workshop focuses on female artists in the arts. It gives young artists the opportunity to share experiences and debate how being a woman influences work life in the arts. British stage director Katie Mitchell supervises this workshop and explores all facets of feminism and femininity identity by sharing her own experience.

The workshop aims to identify and analyze the factors affecting women's career today, in the opera field more specifically, and aims to develop tools to bring/make changes.

A three-part workshop:

Part 1: from July 4th to 9th, 2016 in London, collective think tank session in order to explore  questions of gender and female identity in the art of making operas and issues of gender that may arise in the workplace.
Part 2: during season 2016-2017, each participant spends a working day with Katie Mitchell in order to take benefit of her daily life experience as an opera stage director.
Part 3: from June 19th to 24th, 2017 in Aix, second collective think tank session putting together each participant’s experience.

Some sessions, in the form of conferences, may be open to the public.
