2024 MULTIDISCIPLINARY RESIDENCY: DISCOVER THE ARTISTS IN THE ACADEMY'S NEW RESIDENCY!
Share
For its 26th edition, the Académie is implementing a new residency programme that offers greater visibility to multidisciplinary artists and explores new areas of aesthetics. The success of the recruitment process, which elicited a large number of applications (115 artists from 34 countries), demonstrates the relevance of this programme’s content in the international landscape of artistic residencies. The final makeup of this group of artists was determined through constant research, the monitoring of artistic talents, numerous meetings, and awareness-raising initiatives in the performing arts and music sectors.
Designed in collaboration with Piersandra di Matteo— a performing arts theorist, dramaturg and curator — the Multidisciplinary Residency aims to foster dialogue between various disciplines and fields of research: music and sound, visual arts, stage direction, choreography, critical theory and curation in the performing arts, dramaturgy, and literature.
The 14 selected artists, from 10 different nationalities, will benefit from a space for discussion, the sharing of practices, and artistic exploration, during these two weeks of activities. Meetings, debates, visits, and individual and collective work sessions provide a structure for the development of ideas.
The residency will conclude with a concert-performance on the evening of 7 July 2024: this event, which unites all the artists from the residency around a collective creation, will generate dialogue between various aesthetics and artistic practices, thanks to an approach that highlights cultural diversity. The evening will mark the end of the first week of the Festival, and also herald the professional days, including the Opera Makers meetings on 8 July, which the artists from this residency will attend.
This residency is organised as part of the enoa network, with the support of the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
