Alongside the Orchestre de Paris' concerts conducted by Klaus Mäkelä, a host of renowned orchestral formations can be heard throughout July in an exceptionally wide-ranging series.
The Ensemble Pygmalion joins forces with the baritone Stéphane Degout for an excursion into the very heart of German Romantic music. This winding musical itinerary, leading from Schubert’s Symphony n° 8 in B minor D.759 - The Unfinished to Brahms’s Symphony n°1 in c minor op. 68 by way of Schubert’s lieder, traces the search for a peace that can never fully be attained in a world in the grip of doubt, bereavement, phantoms and a longing for perfection. Raphaël Pichon’s ensemble returns to the Grand Théâtre de Provence on 7 July for this original programme

Internationally acclaimed for its performances of contemporary repertoire, the Klangforum Wien returns to the Festival for the first time since 2017 with its project « The Tower of Babel » : a concert placing the spotlight on young composers from Eastern Europe and revealing the fascinating diversity of the contemporary music scene across the post-Soviet world. A utopian and polyphonic undertaking, « The Tower of Babel » rises above a cultural landscape currently suffering severe deprivation by offering a sanctuary-like musical space. An unmissable event on 7 July at the Conservatoire Darius Milhaud.
