Created in 1955, the Festival of Baalbeck is one of the oldest and most prestigious festivals in the Middle East. With a multidisciplinary programme that includes classical musical, opera, Jazz, the popular song, dance and theatre, the Festival’s mission is to keep alive artistic endeavour in an unstable geopolitical environment and foster cultural exchange between Lebanon, its neighbours and the rest of the world. Albeit interrupted during the long years of the civil war and often transferred to Beirut, in particular since the beginning of the civil war in Syria, the Festival was originally born in the majestic setting of the ancient Roman acropolis of Baalbeck. For its 60th anniversary, Nayla de Freige, its President, and Bernard Foccroulle have organised an artistic twinning which takes the shape of a tribute paid by Aix to the Lebanese Festival.

With the support of the CMA-CGM Foundation

Following up on this evening, a meeting with the artists will be offered on the July 8 at the Villa Méditerranée in Marseille.
