Why support us?
Since 1948, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence delights opera and classical music lovers around the world. Its bold and thought-provoking productions, its outstanding vocal casts, the magic of its open-air venues and its southern flair make it one of the most acclaimed and broadcast opera Festivals in Europe.
Each year, more and more internationals - private companies and individual donors - decide to support the Festival and to take part in the fascinating Festival experience. Making a contribution is not only a philanthropic act, allowing the Festival to keep up with its artistic and societal ambitions, but also an expression of shared values: research of excellence, creativity and engagement.
Supporting the Festival means…
…promoting artistic excellence
For more than 60 years, the Festival has been producing outstanding opera and classical music. Its ability to gather world-class artists and renowned orchestras, and its commitment to new opera and interdisciplinary work, make the Festival a true innovator in the opera world.
…fostering an international reputation
Thanks to an extended network of co-producers, the Festival’s productions are revived by prestigious opera houses around the world, allowing the Festival to develop its excellent international reputation. In 2011, the Festival will be present in 7 different countries, and co-producing theaters include the Teatro alla Scala Milan, the Metropolitan Opera New York and the Wiener Staatsoper.
…opening up to new audiences
Through its educational and social projects, the Festival wishes to open up to new and underprivileged audiences, stirring their interest in opera and encouraging artistic activities. Its ambitious media policy also allows the Festival to reach the general public.
…nurturing young talents
In 14 years of existence, the Académie européenne de musique has welcomed more than 1200 young international artists in Aix-en-Provence. As the Festival’s in-house music Academy, it has made itself a name as an important musical training institution, which offers young singers and instrumentalists an invaluable stepstone for their careers.
