Eve-Maud Hubeaux

Eve-Maud Hubeaux who is going to interpret several roles in the Ravel’s l’Enfant et les Sortilèges will also attend an enoa workshop for singers at the Fundación Albéniz-ESMRS, Madrid, from may 21th to the 24th. This vocal technique workshop will be led by one of the most outstanding Kammersängerin and lyric soprano of our times, Helen Donath who will approach students in voice technique based on her entire life experience singing operas.

Set design

Carlos Franklin, who was participating at the Opera Creation workshop of the Académie européenne de Musique, last year, and made the video of Mutations of matter that was presented at the jeu de paume theatre will also attend a new enoa workshop about set design in Florence from May 28th to the 30th and directed by some of the most influent Italian designers in that field such as : Pier Luigi Pizzi, set designer, Giancarlo Cauteruccio, artistic director of Scandicci Teatro Studio, Italo Grasso, director of set design for Maggio Fiorentino, Maurizo Balò, set designer.

Stage direction and dramaturgy Workshop at the Bayerische Theaterakademie with Christof Nel

Early spring the enoa network, organises numerous workshops. The latest was taking place at the Bayerische Theaterakademie in Munich, Germany, from March 14th to the 17th.  The Romanian Stage Director Rares Zaharia, was selected by the Festival d’Aix-en Provence to participate in this workshop. Last year, Rares took part of the Opera Creation workshop of the Académie européenne de musique 2011.

First YES ! Concert (Young European Singers)

On the last March 7th, the Royal Conservatory of Brussels hosted the very first YES! Concert, as a result of a workshop led by the famous soprano June Anderson and hold by the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in the frame of enoa. The young enoa singers were accompanied on stage by a chamber music ensemble. The Romanian-born soprano Andreea Soare, ex-artist of the 2011 Mozart residency and HSBC laureate participated in this show co-produced by Bozar Music, La Monnaie, and the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel.

Workshop with Tom Krause at the Fundación Albéniz - ESMRS of Madrid

Last week-end, in Madrid, the Fundación Albéniz - ESMRS hosted a workshop with the legend Tom Krause. His own method blurring both technique and metaphysical thoughtfulness, brings singers to a certain state of mind out of their control. Majdouline Zerari, Moroccan mezzo-soprano, ex-artist of the 2010 Académie européenne de musique, participated in this workshop. She will interpret the Cat, the Squirrel and the Shepherdess in the Opera L’Enfant et les sortileges directed by Didier Puntos at the Festival of Aix-en-Provence this summer.

2011 Traviata

Produced in July 2011 at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, La Traviata, with Natalie Dessay singing Violetta Valéry under the direction of Louis Langrée and staged by Jean-François Sivadier, will be available in DVD from 19 March on! This DVD is also awarded a Diapason d'Or!

workshop on vocal and orchestral writing

A workshop for young composers focusing on vocal and orchestral writing orientated by Luca Francesconi was taking place from February the 15th to the 17th at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon. Among European composers we could have seen the composer Kim Ashton who was taking part of the Opera Creation workshop of the Académie européenne de musique during summer 2010. This workshop is divided in three parts, the two other ones will be running in June and September 2012. After the last one, the Gulbenkian Foundation will commission a score for voice and orchestra to one of the composers and it will be performed at the Foundation with the Gulbenkian Orchestra.

Research workshop: French opera and melody

The enoa network (European Network of Opera Academies) carries on its workshops throughout Europe. Recently in Waterloo, two young singers of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence's Académie européenne de musique, Gan-ya Ben-gur Akselrod and Mercedes Arcuri, were taking part in this research workshop dedicated to French opera and melody.
Mercedes Arcuri will be in Aix this forthcoming summer from 6 July in L'Enfant et les sortilèges under the direction of Didier Puntos.

Conference: La finta giardiniera by Mozart

On Saturday 26 November at 3pm, Elisabeth Rallo-Ditche will give a lecture entitled "La comédie des erreurs" on La finta giardiniera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart produced by the Festival d'Aix in July 2012.
This conference organised by the Association des Amis du Festival has been made possible with the collaboration of the Festival d'Aix and the video library of the Cité du Livre.

Parade[s]

Once again Parade[s] achieved a great succes in Aix with a serie of three free concerts.

On 24 June, a parody of Wagner's Ring, created after Les Joyeux Nibulungen by Oscar Straus and interpreted by a 60 children chorus conducted by Benjamin Lunetta, has been played in the Institut Saint-Yves pastoral setting. On 25 June, Ibn Zaydoun chorus gave a concert of songs composed by Moneim Adwan on Ibn al-'Arabî's and Mahmoud Darwich's poems at the Hôtel Maynier d'Oppède. Parade[s] ended up on the cours Mirabeau in a great concert with La Traviata most famous arias!

Welcome evening of the 2011 Académie singers

After a first coaching day with Susanna Eken and Emmanuel Olivier, the young artists of the vocal Académie were gathered at the Cloître des Oblats by the Festival Friends for a welcome drink and to launch the 2011 Académie européenne de musique.

Magdalena Kozena & Camerata Salzburg concert

In July 2009, La Camerata Salzburg and Magdalena Kozena conducted by Louis Langrée held a concert at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. During a few weeks, you can watch again and again this concert on Arte on the following video.
